I loved reading this book. I stood as still as I could. What would keep you from committing suicide? He finds Laura, who brings revelations about the catastrophe, and her presence - a young, sexy, disruptive girl - raises questions about what is moral and ethical in the new reality. This book is sure to have readers yearning for more from this author. Valentine can not figure out who the Wizard is and what is he after, at first she suspect him to be a spy, then she discovers he is a war reporter, and becomes angry at his refusal to help the city in any factual way.
Personally I am happy that this is the first in a series. An exciting story, with interesting twists and turns and great characters. Why did the strange death of birds and fish cause alarm among naturalists and environmentalists in all nations? The reader will follow Dan as he encounters this journey with his family and what he discovers along the way is truly shocking as well as life-changing, and this book lovers is the premise of the sensational novel. If I were in their shoes, I'd be resentful and angry, I'd ask more questions. Yet, now, it was a case of survival and adapting to what came their way. Connor might be the wrong man for the colony, but he's the right man to see that it survives what's coming.
Rose, I just got summoned to an urgent meeting with Carl and Brad. We had enough reasons to wonder what killed them, clear signs that something was seriously wrong. That's exactly what happens to Dan, his wife, Mary and their daughter, Annah. I also enjoy the unexpectedness of it. This was a very interesting story which I thoroughly enjoyed listening to. Marino's story is just the opposite.
What are you going to do now, Dan? Nothing could have prepared them for the last day. What if I saw that glow? What a cruel destiny the Moîrai had imposed on us Selected. Daimones is based on people experience and facts with an added what if to provide an explanation to current and past events. Clark, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, Ursula K. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? From the very beginning, and until the end, the rhythm is tight, and the writing evocative. Anyway, as the only director who had been able to herd the cats, we had released a working platform in spite of everything and within the agreed timeline. I'm not sure whether to place it into sci-fi, fantasy or what.
Not cut so much as re-write. I thank you for having taken the trouble to read my review. The characters are real as they face their challenges; the descriptions of the countryside and Geneva are beautiful, bringing the reader into the story to hear the birds chirping, see the blue sky and witness nature taking back the towns and villages. The characters are well developed and Dan is a solid, yet complex, main character that anchors the story. An overused analogy and often strident with reality: the clock ticked before hiring the help so Carl threw out the baby with the bathwater.
And what is to come is a story of vast dimensions. The resemblance though was loathsome, as if fashionable jewels and clothing brands had finally admitted they did not care whether customers liked them or not. The hint of a smile raised his lips. After wiping out billions of people, the race known as the Moîrai created a new, transgenic species of humans called the Selected — giving them both the gift and burden of longevity and memories of human history on another world. The ending brings some closure about the catastrophe to this family, but also lays a heavy burden and responsibility on Dan.
It is well thought out and a refreshing change from the usual post-apocalyptic zombie novel. They find themselves alone on the planet in Switzerland and begin the search for other survivors. This book, first of a trilogy, changed all that. I would definitely recommend it to both sci-fi, post-apocalyptic and urban fantasy adult readers. The characters themselves are somewhat unbelievable too. To say that Daimones is an exceptional work, is an understatement.

I slammed on the brakes refusing to believe it. Though sci-fi is not my usual genre, I enjoyed Daimones, and look forward to the next two books in this intriguing trilogy. The author weaves a haunting authentic feeling end of days tale using his characters to drive home the horrors of it all.
